Welcome to the website of Vallis Dyliae. Vallis Dyliae is a charming and cosy guesthouse with four comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms. The use of typical colours and materials brings a specific style and character to the rooms.
Location
Korbeek-Dijle is located on the route Leuven - Overijse. The village came into existence on the left bank of the Dijle, hidden between the greenery surroundings of the Zoniën forest and the Meerdaal forest. Therefore it belongs to the Green Zone round Brussels.
Korbeek-Dijle has a very rural character. Besides, the Dijle valley is part of the nature reserve "De Doode Bemde". Sunken roads hidden between fields and pastures, the Dijle and its streams, parks, castles, abbeys and cosy market squares...
Korbeek-Dijle lies within a stone's throw of Leuven, the university and culture city. This part of the country of Brabant Gothic is at each bon vivant's back and call!
History
Vallis Dyliae lies on a hill that overlooks the Dijle valley. This hill faces the east and due to this location and to the ground condition is this area suitable to the grape growing. That is to say, grape growing in greenhouses. Actually the grape region starts in Korbeek-Dijle.
In the early part of the last century, the ground of Vallis Dyliae was built over with grapes greenhouses, which were used by the family Vlasselaer. Up to the year 1990, grape growing was a very busy activity.
Since 2005 one of these greenhouses was restored with authentic vines and became the showpiece of our guesthouse.
